NjHindley.Com - Links -British bands of interest
Please note: I maintain this page just to reflect my own interests in certain bands, either because I have always liked them
or because I have met them through seeing other bands etcetera. I didn't set up the page to provide a comprehensive linking service to other band web-sites.
If you want to get your band's site listed then use the sites referenced on the band links page as they
are set up solely to do this and do a far better job of it than I ever could have time to do, even if that was what I had intended .. which I didn't.
Airbomb
Romford's Airbomb make a solid sounding and steady-going brand of Punk. I don't know that much about them but I certainly like them,
check out the link for more info and sound clips.

Apocalypse babys
Derbyshire based pop-Punk outfit, very underated, deserve far more exposure
than they have had .. just wish I could get hold of more of their
back-catalogue !

Broken Bones
Stoke-based Metal/Punk crossover, been playing staggeringly well in recent years, hardly surprising with Bones on guitar and Mr Hoddy on bass.
See: broken-bones.co.uk
Built From Scratch
Youngish Manchester / Stockport area band, been doing a lot of gigs in the
vicinity.
See: builtfromscratch.net
3CR
Hardworking, irreverant and definitely non-politically correct outfit from the
Stalybridge / Ashton-Under-Lyne area. Played for me a couple of times, pretty
entertaining live.

Coldplay
Would you rather see pap like Stock, Aitken & Waterman stuff clogging the
charts like it did late Eighties ? Coldplay create beautiful and unique
songs, don't knock 'em becuase they're 'big', open your mind indeed.

Conflict
Controversial yes, but a voice that says that Conflict "Does not ask you to do
as them nor think as them, that's the basis of freedom". Spot on chaps. This
is their new web-site, why they changed from the old one is a matter I will
leave to Mr Jerwood to explain.

Eastfield
Brummie Punks again but nothing like GBH. Good lyrics and jangly tunes and
sometimes even some female backing, well worth checking out. Singer Jesse has
a love of the big iron moving things too, you'll know what I mean when you see
their web-site.

GBH
Legendary Brummie Punk thrashers .. what more can you say.

Halford
A very old Brummie rocker indeed ! Mr Robert Halford was of course better known as the front-man of Judas Priest up until 1990,
definitely (in my opinion), one of the superior Heavy Metal bands of our times and actually very unpretentious live believe it or not.
For reasons better known to himself and never fully divulged, Rob suddenly quit 'The Priest' without so much as a farewell gig,
needless to say, this didn't make the fans very happy. I think that it was fairly obvious to most that Rob then spent a decade in the doldrums.
I am a firm believer in the principle that the sum of the individuals of a band are greater than the parts and like Fish from Marillion,
Rob's solo projects 'Fight' and then whatever the next one was (didn't even see the record and try getting hold of the second Fight album whilst you're at it !),
didn't really achieve so much and it seemed that all was lost .. the remaining members of Judas Priest not exactly begging him to rejoin.
Then, much to my surprise, Rob's imaginatively titled new group 'Halford' hit the shops with a new album 'Resurrection'.
I was initially suspicious, Metal has moved on through its 'Nu' incarnation and the sight of the veteran Rob straddling a Harley in leathers made me wonder
what on earth he was trying to recapture. In fact, 'Resurrection' is a great album, not so much thrashy (though hardly pedestrian),
but instead has some great songs pushed firmly home by Rob's (still) powerful voice. We may longer hear 'The Priest is back' from Mr Halford but this
album shows that he himself has hardly gone away.

Idiosyncracy
Manchester based up-tempo Indie, original and for their age, have great
potential.

Lillydamwhite
Very original Bristol based Rap / Metal outfit.

LowlifeUK
Very interesting outfit, started playing for me about five years ago. Always entertaining on-stage but have evolved fantastically in the musicianship stakes, recent performances show that these boys have thoroughly learned their trade and are ready for bigger things (i.e gigs - other promoters take note !).

M.D.M
Hailing from Toxteth, Liverpool, this female-fronted band always put on an
excellent show, very recommendable.

Milloy
I like new music and when you get to hear a band like this AND put them on it's a thorough pleasure. Milloy are based in Wakefield and have come up with some of the most cracking songs I have heard from a new band in ages.

One Man Stand
Stockport based trio backed up well and truly by big Jan (of an
unpronounceable second name). A relatively new band though Jan has been
playing in the Manchester area for many a year.

Peter and the Test Tube Babies
Brighton's long running and Britain's surely most amusing Punk outfit.

Picture Frame Seduction
I think that this band originated in South Wales ? Seem to be based around Gloucester now. Have managed to make an 'old style Punk' album 'Sex War' as their comeback showcase for this age and have done it pretty well, (and nicely packaged too, must have cost a bloody fortune !). The sound kind of reminds me of English Dogs in their better days with several other influences discernable besides. The guys have a good attitude which you certainly don't always get with Punk bands, think there's some MP3s on their web-site, check 'em out.

Pike
Preston based sort of agit-pop / Punk, original, not heard of so much outside
of the North-West but well worth checking out.

Sick 56
New band fronted by Nige and Boothy ex of The Pink Torpedoes. Touting a soon
to be released LP 'Recipe for disaster', the band have assumed a rather harder
sound than fans of the Torps would be used to hearing. It's an aggresive but
well formed and intelligent record, a long time in the making.

Swellbellys
Hard-working and very hardcore Scottish Punk outfit, much better live than on
record I think .. ..
