Pure Greed / Not Enough Hate / Leather Coffin Candy
Man / Lords Of Discipline Where The Wild Things Are Church Of The Truly
Warped / Back I Need Energy / Evil Evar / All For The Cause
Ah ha ! Suddenly GBH seemed to find that old magic once more and this album
was the result, I look on it as a taste of what was to come with Punk Junkies. There's a lot of variance in this album and
quite possibly, it appears on reflection to be the most sedate that they have
produced so far, a great contrast to the speedball tempo of From Here To Reality which preceded it.
I saw GBH in early '93 at a poorly attended gig at 'The Jug' in
Doncaster, UK. Although Colin had lost his voice, the band played nearly
the whole LP (it had of course been not long on release), all funnily enough
except my favourite 2 tracks 'Candyman' and 'Evil Evar'. Having said that,
it was a pleasure to hear 'I need Energy' and as many of you will know, it
still is a pleasure to hear it today, it being the only surviving track from
this LP to be aired live these days.
It was the only studio recording to feature Joe Montero (RIP), 'an accomplished
drummer' ("But for heavens sake don't tell him that" said the others !), though
ironically, the drums actually can sound quite muted at times. For a welcome change, Ross's bass burbles nicely and projects
loudly on many tracks, an instrument so tragically underused on so many Punk
recordings. A good album indeed and definitely a prelude for the sheer
excellence of the Punk Junkies and Ha Ha albums which followed later.

Words & Music: Abrahall, Blyth, Lomas, Montanaro
You've got a fast brain,
it's like a bullet train.
You've been branded,
LINE TO BE ADDED !
Your scream's like gasoline,
it burned me to the core.
You used to stand for something,
but not any more.
And when I turned to you,
in my hour of need.
I looked into your eyes,
and saw the pure greed.
Yeah when I turned to you,
on my bended knees.
I looked into your eyes,
and they shone a pure green.
Domino skyscrapers and thunder,
not just another face, just another number.
Domino skyscrapers and thunder,
not just another face, just another number.
You've got a big life,
but I heard that it's broken.
Now I'm gonna' sit and laugh,
until my eyes are soakin'.

We've travelled your six lane highways,
and still arrived late.
Then saw a cockroach dancing,
upon our deli plate.
I've drank your wicked potions,
ended up on the floor.
Yes we did all those things - all for the cause.
We never stopped there's nothing new - All for the cause.
I smoke the pipe of peace with you - All for the cause.
Sampled things 'till I went blue - All for the cause.
There ain't no doubt what we're about - We're all for the cause.
I've slept on beds of concrete,
showered in streams of ice.
Watched your scratchy TV's,
and fully paid the price.
We've broken none of your windows,
but kicked down all the doors.
Yes we did all those things - All for the cause.
We're practised in the art of suffering,
never happy without the real thing.
Your hate cuts like a knife,
this is no lifestyle, this is out life.
Taken all your hypocrisy,
when you shout and scream.
Your getting grey and growing old,
I'm still living my teenage dream.
We scraped by with honesty,
you've flouted all the laws.
Yes we did all those things - All for the cause.
